resume Marian has become known for her interpretation of
20th century opera, performing works such as Menotti’s Amahl
and the Night Visitors (Mother), Pasatieri’s La Divina
(Cecily), Fox’s Sid the Serpent Who Wanted to Sing
(Juggler/Senora/Music Hall Artiste) at the South Shore Conservatory’s
Amphitheater (MA), Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea (Woman),
and Britten’s Peter Grimes at Tanglewood under the baton of
Maestro Seiji Ozawa. Her performance as the nun Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music with the Reagle
Players (opposite John Davidson as Capt. von Trapp) garnered critical acclaim. Recent roles also include
La Suora Zelatrice in Suor Angelica (Opera Providence), Zozo in The Merry Widow
(New England Light Opera), Hansel in Hansel and Gretel (Longwood
Opera, and the Shepherd in Tosca. She also appeared
in recent Opera Boston productions of Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito and
Chabrier's L'Etoile at Boston's historic Majestic Theater, as well as in
the world premiere of Garzilli’s
Michelangelo with Opera Providence at the Providence Performing Arts
Center. Since
2005, Marian has been a member of Opera To Go, a school outreach ensemble that
introduces opera to greater Boston elementary and middle schools through
fast-paced interactive and improvisatory shows.
In oratorio, Marian has appeared as soloist in works such
as Mozart’s
Requiem, Coronation Mass, and Solemn Vespers
di Domenica, Vivaldi's Gloria, Bach’s B Minor Mass,
Beethoven’s Mass in C, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass,
Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Handel's Messiah and Coronation Anthems, and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater
with many New England-area organizations, such as the Arlington Philharmonic and
Chorus, Chorus pro Musica, Masterworks Chorale,
the Salisbury Singers of
Worcester, the Concert Singers of Greater Lynn and Orchestra, and the Paul Madore
Chorale and Orchestra.
A versatile recitalist praised for her skills as both actress and
singer, Ms. Rambelle has performed song repertoire that spans 400 years: from
the Baroque music of Henry Purcell to the Romantic lieder of Clara Schumann and
Brahms, and into the present day with the songs of Ives, Argento, and Libby
Larsen.
Marian’s appearances also include recordings and
nationally-televised broadcasts with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops, singing
backup for the Andy Williams Christmas Show, and performing at the United
Nations headquarters in New York in the worldwide live choral Ode to Joy
finale of the 1998 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies. Marian holds degrees
from Cornell University (Engineering) and the Longy School of Music (Opera
Performance).
